How do I select the right PDC cutter size (e.g., 1913, 1613, 1308) for my drilling formation? +
Cutter selection depends on formation hardness, impact levels, and required Rate of Penetration (ROP):
  • 1913 / 1919 (19mm): Ideal for soft-to-medium formations (shale, sandstone) where high ROP is prioritized. Offers larger depth of cut per revolution.
  • 1613 / 1616 (16mm): The industry standard balance between ROP and impact resistance. Excellent for medium-hard and interbedded formations.
  • 1308 / 1313 (13mm): Preferred for hard or highly abrasive formations, offering higher impact durability and lower torque requirements.
  • 0804 / 1008 (8-10mm): Commonly used in core drilling, mining roof-bolts, and directional drilling blades.
What is deep leaching (acid leaching), and when should I request leached PDC cutters? +
Leaching removes the cobalt catalyst from the diamond table surface up to a specific depth (e.g., 100–300 microns). Since cobalt expands faster than diamond under high friction heat, removing it prevents thermal degradation (delamination).

Recommendation: Request leached PDC cutters for high-speed motor drilling, hard abrasive sandstone, or deep oil & gas and geothermal operations where bottom-hole temperatures exceed 250°C.
Do you offer non-planar / shaped PDC cutters (Axe, Ridge, Dome types)? +
Yes. We manufacture ridge, axe-shaped, spherical, and conical PDC cutters. Non-planar geometry concentrates point-loading force, increasing rock-crushing efficiency in tough, high-strength formations while reducing overall weight-on-bit (WOB) requirements and vibration.
How do you resolve cutter chipping or delamination issues during field operations? +
If you experience premature chipping, we evaluate two parameters:
  • Impact Micro-cracking: We increase the diamond table thickness and adjust the transition layer gradient to absorb higher impact loads.
  • Thermal Wear: We apply deep leaching or alter the diamond grain size distribution (coarse/fine mix) to optimize thermal stability.
  • Chamfer Customization: Modifying the cutting edge chamfer (e.g., changing from 0.3mm to 0.5mm at 45°) significantly enhances edge toughness in rocky stringers.
Brazing & Bit Rebuilding
What is the recommended temperature for brazing PDC cutters onto steel or matrix bodies? +
Brazing temperature should be strictly controlled below 750°C (1382°F) to prevent thermal damage to the diamond layer. We recommend using high-silver content brazing alloys (e.g., 45%–50% Ag) with induction or torch heating, keeping flame exposure to the diamond face as brief as possible.
Are your PDC cutters compatible with standard repair shop retipping processes? +
Yes. Our cutters feature precise outer diameter (OD) grinding tolerances (±0.02mm or tighter) and standard carbide substrate surface treatments, making them fully compatible with OEM and independent drill bit repair shops worldwide.
Quality Assurance & Testing
What quality control testing procedures do your PDC cutters undergo? +
Every production batch undergoes 100% inspection including:
  • C-Scan Ultrasonic Testing (UT): To detect internal voids, delamination, or micro-flaws at the diamond-carbide interface.
  • Vertical Turret Lathe (VTL) Test: Evaluates wear resistance by cutting granite blocks under constant loads.
  • Drop-Tower Impact Test: Measures energy tolerance (Joules) before edge chipping occurs.
  • Dimension & Chamfer Scanning: Optical measurement of OD, height, chamfer angle, and surface flatness.
Can you provide test reports and material certificates with our shipment? +
Yes. Each order comes with an Official Inspection Certificate, including dimensional scan results, batch-specific VTL wear data, and Ultrasonic C-Scan defect reports upon request.
Orders, Sampling & Logistics
Do you offer sample packs for field testing prior to bulk orders? +
Yes. We support bit OEMs and drilling contractors with sample packs (typically 20–50 pcs) for field performance evaluation against your existing benchmarks. Contact our engineering team to discuss target rock formations and specify your required cutter grade.
What is your standard production lead time and minimum order quantity (MOQ)? +
  • Standard Stock Items (e.g., 1913, 1613, 1308 flat cutters): Ready to ship within 3–5 business days. MOQ is 50 pcs.
  • Custom Geometries / Leached Cutters: 2–3 weeks lead time depending on order size. MOQ is 200 pcs.
What shipping options do you provide for urgent field orders? +
We partner with DHL, FedEx, and UPS Express for urgent door-to-door delivery (3–5 days globally). For bulk commercial orders, we offer air freight and sea freight under FOB, CIF, or DAP Incoterms.
Can you produce customized PDC cutters based on our engineering drawings? +
Absoloutely. We support custom OEM/ODM specifications including special substrate chamfers, specific diamond layer thicknesses, custom outer diameter tolerances, and non-standard shapes. Non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) can be executed before receiving your drawings.
